Remote Work
Dr. Md Jafrul Hannan performed a laparoscopic appendectomy on a 16-year-old male diagnosed with perforated appendicitis. The surgery was observed remotely via TeleVU by Dr. K M Zafrul Hossain, Dr. Md Samiul Hasan, Dr. Fatema Sayeed and Dr. Antardip Nandy. This collaborative approach allowed for remote mentorship and knowledge sharing, despite physical distances.
The patient presented with a perforated appendix, requiring emergency laparoscopic appendectomy under spinal anesthesia. A lump indicating localized inflammation was released, revealing pus, which was aspirated for culture. The gangrenous appendix, perforated near its base, was dissected, ligated, and safely removed in a condom bag. The peritoneal cavity was irrigated with saline to eliminate infection, and a drain tube was placed for postoperative monitoring. Strategic port placement ensured efficient and precise surgical maneuvers.
